@MissKellyO Kicks Off Mag Mile Shopping Festival with a little Q&A with Chicago's Top Fashion Editors

I’ve been a reality junkie my whole life, but few shows actually live up to my expectations. Well, that’s probably because MTV’s very first reality family, “The Osbournes”, set the bar pretty high for unscripted hilarity and seemingly unstaged scenarios. Since the British Invasion, Kelly Osbourne has carved out quite the fashion forward seat for herself and now considered part of Hollywood’s elite A-List.
So, does the down-to-earth E! Fashion Police starlet exude as much charm in person? I dare say she does and it was wonderful to see her personality shine through giggles, inside jokes with her hair stylist, or even her ability to make the f-word come off cutesy! What does the purple hued haute couture lover have in store for her future? Here’s an inside peek into what she had to say…
Are you starting your own fashion line?
KO: Yes, (looks to her publicist for permission to announce the brand name) but she can’t reveal the name yet. For Kelly, “fashion tells a story” and her line is all based on a story, part or memory of her life.
Trust when it comes to its launch, “I want to be a part of every aspect of the business and make decisions on manufacturing, fabrics, construction, style... It is very important to me.”
KO: Colors like “mustard and purples, the brocades, as well as the oversize menswear jackets for women.”
How do you like Chicago and where have you shopped?
KO: While Chicago has quickly become a favorite city, she hasn’t stepped off of Michigan Avenue to shop for herself, which is a great reason to get her acquainted with Garmental!
Any favorite brands?
KO: “I LOVE Chanel!” and also mixes in a lot of vintage to round out her look. She also describes her love for Topshop, Zara and H&M, but doesn’t shop them all on the same continent! For example, she prefers Topshop in England and H&M in the US. But unlike the rest of the world, she has the pleasure of first-in-line designer collaborations samples she swears are made from “the same fabrics used by Marni” or the other designers. And don’t think she is in Chanel all the time, “Sometimes I change the buttons on a cheaper jacket and everyone assumes its Chanel.”
How about the purple hair?
KO: Funny to find it’s about her obsession with being a Golden Girl (I mean, aren’t we all?) and her identifying with her inner Sophia- “Joan is definitely Blanche” although she secretly wants to be her as well! The process is anything but funny to Kelly. Just ask her stylist Judd Minter (follow him @juddminter) who says she can’t stand the endless hours it takes to bleach, color and then tone her tresses to purple perfection. Kelly cringes at the thought.

When asked about red carpet moments, she begins to reminisce about her days married to Spanx and that she couldn’t get dressed without them “until just three years ago.” Since her triumphant weight loss (see that tiny waistline?), Kelly still pulls on the slimmers, but didn’t fall in love with eveningwear until she wore her favorite Tony Ward dress, which was the moment she “was the most comfortable she ever felt.”
It seems that there’s more on the horizon for @MissKellyO than red carpets and laughing fits with Joan Rivers, but much to our dismay, she wouldn’t share her future plans but did say, “It’s so exciting and I can’t even believe it’s happening to me.” So what could it be? She’s already got plans for a fashion line, co-hosts E!’s funniest fashion round-up, and travels the world for personal appearances. My guess, maybe it’s a show of her own a la Bravo’s Bethenny Frankel? I guess we’ll have to sit back and wait for the big reveal!
